On Thursday 10th October, Close the Gap, together with NGO Federatie and Agoria, organised the first of three Tech for Development workshops. These workshops are part of the Digital for Development program. The hands-on, free workshops are specifically developed to the needs of NGOs and non-profits active in Development Cooperation.

The first workshop was about Digital Marketing. Facebook Belgium was so kind as to host our 40 participants at their offices in Brussels.

The first speaker of the morning was Karel Platteau, Government Politics and Advocacy Partner Manager at Facebook EU BeNeLux. His presentation focused on the latest trends in digital marketing and included case studies in digital marketing from development aid NGOs, an overview of Facebook tools available for NGOs as well as digital marketing training material provided by Facebook online for free.

The second presentation was held by Luc Malcorps, Director of Media Relations at Emakina Group. He told the group about how to best partner up with a digital agency.

Last but not least, Pascale Van Durme, Programme Manager at Socialware, introduced the participants to IT products and services that are available for non-profit organisations.

This very interesting and first Tech 4 Development Workshop was an inspiring kick-off of the whole series of workshops organised in context of the Digital for Development programme. The two other workhops are focused on Mobile Applications and on Blockchain Technology. For more information about the other two workshops, click here
