From 20-23 March 2019, Startups.be and Close the Gap organised the exciting Silicon Lagoon mission to Lagos, Nigeria. Together with Minister Philippe De Backer, Minister of the Digital Agenda, Telecommunications and Post Office, responsible for administrative simplification, the fight against social fraud, the protection of privacy and the North Sea, a delegation of 40 start-ups, entrepreneurs and NGOs discovered Africa's fastest growing tech start-up ecosystem.

We are proud to present the photobook of the mission to Lagos, Nigeria, which captures the atmosphere and the interesting sessions that were organised during the mission. Click here for the full photobook.

During this inspiring mission, participants discovered among others how to do business in Lagos through interesting presentations at MEST Incubator and learned how Wecyclers empowers social change by using the environment and technology to allow low-income communities to capture value from their waste. The first day ended on a high note with a networking cocktail organised by and at the Tony Elumelu Foundation

The second day was largely dedicated to the start-up scene, with co-creation sessions at CcHub and immersion sessions at local start-ups. At night the Belgian embassy invited our delegation for a reception.

On the third day our start-ups pitched before Nigerian investors after an informative session at IFC World Bank. In the afternoon, Youth for Technology Foundation invited us for a session on how to build a hardware ecosystem.

We would like to sincerely thank all of our participants and generous local hosts for making a huge success of this mission!
