“A special shoutout to Rudayna Abdo and Peter Manderick for bridging our worlds with such impactful collaboration. Your efforts have not only enhanced our capabilities but also enriched the lives of countless individuals.” – Hubert Senga, Founder/Executive Director at Generation Aid.
Close the Gap's partnership with Generation Aid, a community non-profit organization established within the Kakuma refugee camp, is making a significant difference in the lives of displaced individuals. With a focus on providing essential digital tools, this collaboration aims to enhance education and digital skills training for the camp's residents.
Kakuma Refugee Camp, situated in northwestern Turkana County, Kenya, has been a refuge for displaced individuals since 1992, hosting over 160,000 refugees from conflict-torn regions. Despite facing challenges like shortages of food, water, and healthcare, initiatives like Generation Aid are stepping in to provide vital support.
Through Close the Gap's donation of desktops and laptops, refugees at Kakuma are gaining access to digital literacy training and innovative educational opportunities. Generation Aid, founded with the mission to reskill refugees with digital skills, is leveraging these tools effectively to promote job creation and fight unemployment among refugees.
The collaboration between Close the Gap and Generation Aid exemplifies a shared commitment to empowering refugees through education and technology. By providing access to technology, this initiative not only enhances educational opportunities but also fosters the integration of refugees into the global community.
Together, Close the Gap and Generation Aid are paving the way for a brighter future for Kakuma's inhabitants, overcoming adversity through the power of education and technology.
