On 22 February, our Strategic Partnerships Director Didier Appels gave a course at Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) on corporate social responsibility (CSR) and social entrepreneurship.

The course was offered to the students in context of the VUB Chair for Social Entrepreneurship. Close the Gap is one of the founding partners of the VUB Chair. This research Chair joins together the academic and corporate world in the search for sustainable business models for social entrepreneurship. Moreover, the chair aims to create a platform that helps to advance social entrepreneurs.

In September, Close the Gap renewed its support for this Chair for the academic year of 2018, for the fourth year in a row since the Chair's creation in 2015. Since then, Close the Gap has regularly given presentations or keynotes to students and other interested stakeholders.

On Friday, Didier introduced around 100 students to the world of CSR and social entrepreneurship. The students were master students International Business Management, Commercial Engineer, and Commercial Sciences. The professor that arranged this, and is also one of the motors behind the VUB Chair for Social Entrepreneurship, is Nikolay Dentchev.

During the 2-hour guest lecture, Didier gave them among others an introduction to Close the Gap, our way of working and the advantages of social entrepeneurship.

"For students and young people it's important to discover the world of social entrepreneurship and to see what kind of impact it can have. That's why I'm really honored to get the opportunity to introduce them to Close the Gap, our story, and the impact we make on a daily basis thanks to all of our partners and supporters." - Didier Appels.
