Tech for Development Workshops

As part of the Digital for Development program, ACODEV, NGO Federatie, Close the Gap and Agoria join forces to organize a series of “Tech for Development” workshops.  These are hands-on, free workshops specifically developed to the needs of NGOs and non-profits active in Development Cooperation (in English). Private sector actors in the same field are also welcome.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: Due to the Covid-19 (Corona) virus that is affecting many countries around the world, including Belgium, all Tech for Development Workshops are postponed until further notice. We will keep you posted on any updates regarding new dates.

Feb 6: Digital Marketing (in French)

Communication/advertising/media/PR/others responsible in NGOs and non-profits will learn about the the basics to digital marketing that are potentially applicable in their field of work. They will also get an introduction on how to use video in their digital marketing strategies.

Earth Observation and Geospatial Apps

NGOs and other actors in development cooperation will discover what remote sensing is all about, what the possible applications in the field are, and they will also receive an overview of the tools and key stakeholders that can help implement such projects.

Artificial Intelligence

During this workshop, NGOs will discover Artificial Intelligence and the practical ways in which this technology could help them generate more impact. We will be kindly hosted by the AI Black Belt team, headed by Roald Sieberath, at Be-Central.

Oct 10: Digital Marketing - SOLD OUT

Communication/advertising/media/PR/others responsible in NGOs and non-profits will learn about the latest opportunities and trends in digital marketing (including the latest Facebook tools and others) that are potentially applicable in their field of work. They will also get an overview of some of the key players, tools and trainings available, including some practical info such as cost, scope, requirements, timing to put such projects in place.

Oct 16: Blockchain Opportunities

In this workshop, several speakers will try to demystify the Blockchain technology.  And, by hand of very practical examples, NGO’s and non-profits will learn more about the potential opportunities and applications possible in the field of development cooperation, such as tracking, transparency, and accountability not only in funding & donations, but also in governance, food & agriculture, healthcare & medicine, environment, identity, and education. The audience will get a concrete overview from different actors in the blockchain value-chain to put such projects in place.
