Part three of Hamis's story
When Hamis, a young computer trainer and technician, wanted to set up his own IT dealer’s office with IT training and computer buying possibilities, he reached out to our service partner ACTT.
At ACTT, he received a profound training to be an IT professional and technician. With computers donated by Close the Gap, ACTT has been providing qualitative IT training for many years now. Apart from this training, ACTT is also behind the YES (Youth Entrepreneur Support) programme, in which they support and offer guidance to young entrepreneurs. Through this programme, Hamis was able to further grow his business.
During Hamis’s first months of setting up his own IT dealer’s office, he faced some challenges. For example, he didn’t have enough computers to answer the needs of his community: he had room for 18 computers to provide computer training, but he lacked enough computers to fill the space. With his 8 computers, he cannot always meet the demand of the community.
Hamis is very proud of what he has achieved: at the moment, he employs three people and he helps his community receive good IT training. He is very grateful for all the help of our service partner ACTT.
Through the computers in his center, his community is able to develop their digital skills. In total almost 40 people had a training in his computer center. Of these, 10 people found a job and others are now self-employed thanks to the IT skills they obtained at his training center.
His dream is to further expand his office and to acquire more computers to provide more people with a qualitative training. His vision for the future is to build a great technology company that can complement his community’s needs by teaching them how to use computers and let them develop their digital skills.
