Part two of Hamis's story
Hamis is a young man from Tanzania with a passion for IT. Through our local service partner Affordable Computers and Technology Tanzania (ACTT), he received a three-month computer training.
After this training he became a professional IT trainer and technician who wanted to share his new-found knowledge with other people. His dream was to establish his own IT dealer’s office.
In 2017, this dream came true. In that year, Hamis opened a small internet service office with 4 computers, a printer and a laptop, where people who don’t own a computer of their own could use these to go on the internet.
Hamis wanted to do more. He wanted to offer computer trainings as well. However, to do this, his business needed to grow and he needed a larger office space with more computers. He reached out to ACTT again and they explained their YES (Youth Entrepreneur Support) Programme. Through this programme, ACTT extends their services and the computer material they receive from Close the Gap throughout Tanzania. At the same time, they support young entrepreneurs with guidance and training.
Through the YES Programme of our service partner ACTT, Hamis was able to develop new administrative activities such as Training, Sales, Maintenance, Internet Services and IT Consultancy for his business. He was able to obtain a larger office space and increase his income through the branding of his office. On average, he obtains 6 new students for his IT trainings each month.
