Close the Gap provided Jeugdeducatiefonds in the Netherlands with laptops

In May, Close the Gap provided a Foundation, Jeugdeducatiefonds, in the Netherlands with laptops. With these laptops, children who do not have access to a computer at home are now able to make their homework online and follow online classes in context of the COVID-19 pandemic, which has a widespread impact on children's education.

In Belgium, Close the Gap and DNS Belgium have set up DigitalForYouth.be, which addresses this same exact issue. Over 12000 laptops have been delivered to secondary school children in Belgium. But Belgium isn't the only country suffering from the COVID-19 impact on the education system. Distance learning has become the norm in many countries. This way, children who do not have a computer at home are more vulnerable to learning disadvantages.

In the Netherlands, Close the Gap has supported the foundation "Jeugdeducatiefonds" with a number of laptops for such vulnerable children. "The Youth Education Fund" helps to increase the development opportunities of children who grow up from a disadvantage.

"Great that we're getting the laptops now. Right on time. We are going back to physical education and then it is very nice that a lot of children don't have to drag a laptop or Ipad back and forth every day. These laptops now first go to the families where there is no or very old equipment. They will be very happy with this." Employee Jeugdeducatiefonds.
