On Tuesday November 26th, our Strategic Partnerships Director Didier Appels gave a keynote at the third VUB Social Entrepreneurship Fair. This fair was organised by the Chair for Social Entrepreneurship, of which Close the Gap in one of the founding partners, together with BNP Parisbas Fortis and Euroclear.

The fair, which is one of the largest events around social entrepreneurship, started with a welcome word by Professor Nikolay Dentchev, who is the spokesperson of the Chair for Social Entrepreneurship at the VUB (Vrije Universiteit Brussel). The Chair's mission is to support social entrepreneurs in their ambition to develop entrepreneurial and innovative approaches for resolving the sustainability issues of our society.

This introductory speech was followed by a testimonal of a student and social entrepreneur, whose business is about giving wedding dresses a second life. Afterwards, our colleague Didier presented how Close the Gap is an example of how impact can be made through a circular and social entrepreneurial approach.

After two more keynotes, the evening ended with the kick-off of the Circular Economy Challenge. This challenge calls upon students, entrepreneurs and innovators to register their ideas to tackle the most challenging issues of the city of Brussels. All these ideas need to be related to the circular economy. For more information and to register for this challenge, click here.
